Volunteer committees are often short on numbers and uncertain about how to recruit new people.

Imagine a collaboration between local bike enthusiasts or bicycle user group, a local government community development area and a non-profit that runs a community centre. The goal? To introduce people who want to get to know their area to its features, such as parks and community services and  invite thinking about community leadership.

Here’s an initiative that brings together a big group of unusual suspects with community leaders in Los Angeles’ Watts area.

Grab a bike! … and provide information about what makes it worthwhile for someone to put their hand up for your committees.

If you’d like to take up this idea for CoM recuritment, but can’t imagine how, in Melbourne The Squeaky Wheel is an organisation which works with organisations to tailor tours. You give them your agenda, they run the tour to your specifications, based on their long experience.
