It’s a dead-end kind of time for those who have plans for action on climate change that rely on Australian governments. A good time to have a look at what people in other countries have on their minds about climate change. Taegen Edwards of Beyond Zero Emissions attended the World Peoples’ Conference on Climate Change in Cochabamba Bolivia. She and her partner Pablo had to stretch outside their normal concerns to join in with participants who were thinking along these lines:

“We are gathered here because the so-called developed countries didn’t meet their obligation of establishing substantial commitments to cutting greenhouse gas emissions in Copenhagen. If those countries had respected the Kyoto Protocol and had agreed to substantially reduce the emissions inside their borders, this conference would not be necessary.” – Evo Morales, 20 April 2010

Bolivian President Morales’ leadership marked the deliberative flavour of the event. You can see Taegen and Pablo’s blog at BZE (a report on Day 2 of the conference).
